The other day, my boss said I should sign off my emails as "Producer".

I thought I heard wrongly so I said, "Oh ok, junior producer, yep! Got it."

Then he said "No no, just put producer la."

Then I said "WOW! REALLY?"

Then he said "Yah."

Then someone walked into the office, and my boss introduced me to him as the tea-lady.

The Pennyless Guitarist and I

... will be playing a half hour acoustic set at Jam Asia this Thursday. More updates on the band here, but basically we're working on releasing a 4-track EP hopefully by mid July. Will be playing at the acoustic stage at Baybeats (Sg) too. So real excited and scared!

Anyway, this Thursday should be fun, coz this is the first time I'll be playing with Evan the Pennyless Guitarist. I love his treatments to the songs, and boy can he really play the guitar. :O

Come come!

The cat likes Bjork

"I'm walking, tra la la...."

"EH? Did you say Bjork?"

You know what? It's bloody boring being jobless. The only bits I suppose I can like about being jobless is being able to download music, watch TV (even that has gotten boring), and the occasional laundry chore (man, gotta wear more clothes so got more laundry to do, yay).

A week being jobless has done nothing but made me feel fat and fatter. As stupid as it sounds, I can't wait to start on my next job.

Anyhoot. Listening to Maroon 5's new album now. It's more popish and dancish, a pretty fun album. Best thing I like about it is that it has "Nothing Lasts Forever", the full song from which the hook Kanye used in "Heard Em' Say". Me like! Hoogah hoogah.

Bjork's cd is pretty cool too. Love the tracks by Timbaland. Oh. Meowie damn layan the Bjork tracks kay. Eccentric kitty, eh?

Timbaland's album so-so la. Then again I only had 1 listen... wasn't really wow-ed that time. (Meowie tak layan also)

Bought a Couple tshirt and their CD that day at the gig. HURRAH!

(What a boring post. Okay. Off to Cyberjaya for lunch!)

Lovestory

Everybody has a love story to tell.

This is ours:

Tee hee. True story.
Last Friday was my last Friday at work

The following conversation used to take place a LOT:

"Person: So, what do you do?

Me: Oh, I'm a sub-editor at a legal publishing company.

Person: I'm sorry, you're a wha... what?

Me: Sub-editor. Legal publishing company. We publish law journals and stuff. Eheheh.

Person: Whoa! *steps back* You studied law?

Me: Errr nupe.

Person: How did you get into this field?

Me: Uh... good question, haha.

Person: ...

Me: ... *pretends to sip drink*

*krick krick....*

Person: So, yeah. Wow, legal publishing, huh.

Me: Uhm. Yeah. Haha. *sips drink*"

Yeayeayea, I know I don't look like a LEGAL sorta person! Haha. Anyway, last Friday was my last day. Goodbye Taxation Administration Act 1953, goodbye black & gold binders, goodbye Pay-roll Tax Manual.

I will miss the friends I've made, for without this place, I wouldn't have met them at all. You guys are awesome, and cheesy as it sounds, I wouldn't be where I am today without you guys. Damn cheesy sial. But it's true lah. HEheheh.

Here's a picture of my cubicle neighbour Pris and me with a book we worked on together a while back. Look, there's a lil heart above Pris' head! She loves the Bankruptcy Book, ya'll. Hehehe!

I got 2 lovely cards from my teammates and Arvind (coincidently, they both bought the EXACT same card! It was so funny hahaha!). And this damn cute doggy pillow from my teammates.

Senkiat says it's the perfect gift coz 1. I love dogs, and 2. I love sleeping.

-_-"

And Ling and Layu gave me this awesomely cool green tshirt. I fell in love with it the moment I saw it. Sorry no pic. I wore it the next day, though. It's hanging by a moment on the laundry line now. Thanks, guys. Really. Thanks...

*sniff*

*tahan macho*

Miss you all!

We had fun in Singapore

Singaporean ciggie packs are plastered with gory pics. Hence, we had loads of fun.

I am an angry bitch

Sometime 2 weeks back, Senkiat, Chak and I went to some hawker place on a Sunday morning where apparently they have excellent "kuey teow terng" and curry mee. The whole place was packed, so we had to stand around and wait for a table to be emptied.

Anyway there was this table at the corner, a young couple was polishing up their bowls and finishing up their drinks. So we stood near there with non-hustla faces and had conversations so we don't look like we're so desperate. Plus I think it's rude to like stand hovering over ppl's table when they're having meals kan. But this couple was finishing up already.

So we stood and waited.

And waited.

Waited.

And damn, still waited.

The couple glanced at us, and the hawker guy came and cleared their table. They only had a few sips of their drink left. But they took FOREVER to cabut. 20 minutes on, and they're STILL sitting there, noticing us waiting but the girl is like yapping and yapping about her college friends whom I already feel like strangling. Helloh, you kenot tell your story in the car meh? Must tell now???

I mean, they already SAW us waiting by their table okay. But they just like buat tak tau. Usually when I go for lunch with the girls and we're finishing up our meals and we see some ppl waiting for tables, one of us (usually Jean the golden soul) will say "Hey, come la, let's finish up and go, got ppl waiting for tables." (I love you Jean!)

Anyway I think it was a good 20 to 25 MINUTES before this couple finally stood up, threw us a glance and jeling, and walked off. 20 minutes for like 2ml of drink which I can sip up in a 3 seconds!!! Argh!

Chak actually said "Thank you" to them. THANK YOU?!?!?! FOR WHAT????!?!!!!! *slaps Chak*

Then Chak went off to order. Senkiat and I sat down and I buat muka bitch there.

"I HATE people like that," I hissed and crossed my arms.

Senkiat suddenly looked at me with a shocked face. "Eiii dun so angr---"

"SEE US WAITING ALREADY STILL DOWAN TO MOVE!! HA??! Take so LONG to finish their stupid drink summore. SUMMORE wanna tell long grandmother story about "My college friend hor, she ah, she like that you know!"???? KENOT TELL STORY LATER AH!??!?! MUST SIT HERE FOR SO LONG???!?! HA???!!!!!"

"Wahhh you so angry... RWOARR!" and he did the tiger claw hand action.

And I wanted to continue spewing fire and brimstone but, but, suddenly... I started laughing and laughing. And quite suddenly I wasn't fuming anymore.

Ish. Stupid tiger claw.

-_-

Something I learnt at a gig today.

So I was at Laundry to watch the snake-charmer Paolo Delfino. And by snake I mean women. Because all women are snakes, aren't they? Muahahaha...ha... HEY, wait a minute!

Hmm.

Anyhoo, Paolo and his band played an awesome set. He looks so comfortable on stage, I just hate him. Hahaha. He reminds me of Jason Mraz in his earlier days.

Sitting right in front of the stage taught me a very important lesson today. Lip gloss makes all the difference, man. Yeah you heard me right. His backup singer (sorry I didn't catch her name) has a beautiful voice that blends in nicely with his. And her lip gloss was shimmering and reflecting in the stage lights, it made you want to lip read. Which is always a good thing when you're playing to a room of people who don't know your songs. They'll lip read and go like "Whoah she has smart lyrics, she blows my mind, I want to give her all my money!"

See what I mean?? *triumphant look* Lip gloss is everything.

So I'm thinking maybe I should wear some lip gloss next time I go on stage. Yeah. I'm so gonna buy some shimmery lip gloss when I go out next. Yeah. Maybe pink. Pink's cute. Yeah. Ohh they have fruity ones too, with real fruit taste. Yeah definitely will get lip gloss, yep!

....

....

....

OKAYYY actually I'm a lazypig and I damn malas wanna put stuff on my lips everytime. I find it so troublesome that I have to reapply that shit (Longlasting 27-hour Lipstick or what, don't tell me you don't wipe your mouth after eating kari laksa? kari laksaaaa.... oOoooOo... *slobber* taugehhhh ...ooOooOoo... chickennnnn.. mmmmm... samballl... ahhHHhHh... kari sou--

---OKAY CHING. FOCUS.

Lip gloss. Yeahhhh...

The Office Fridge

One thing interesting about sharing 2 refrigerators with about a hundred people is that it provides some much-needed drama every now and then when putting commas and semicolons into sentences don't give you that daily thrill of living life on the edge:

[in forlorn voice] "Where is my butter???"

[in shocked voice] "OH. MY. GAWD. My soya bean is MISSING!!!!"

[in voice of injustice] "What the heck? They THREW away my orange juice??? It's not even freakin expired yet!!!!!!!!"

[in hushed whisper] "Somebody used my butter. I know it. These are not my usual butter knife patterns. See??? My butter knife is only THIS big!!!"

[in angry voice loud enough for everyone in the pantry to hear] "Some IDIOTS should stop stealing my Tim Tams!!!"

There is a logical and unspoken rule that you should ALWAYS label your groceries if you wish to keep it chilled in the fridge. The rule is simple. If the low fat milk belongs to you, you label it with your name on it. Which also brings about some interesting things sometimes, too:

[in frustrated voice] "My tau foo far's gone!! I only put it in here YESTERDAY! I was going to label it TODAY!"

[in mischievous giggles] "OoooOoO look, someone didn't label their Cornetto drumstick!! Meaheauahyahuahaha!"

[in my own voice, speaking to Jean] "Hey, my yoghurt is in the fridge k, go and drink it if you want."

Jean: Okay thanks.

Me: Uh. It's labeled Sanjaya.

Jean: ......

Me: Tee hee hee. Funny what.

Jean: -_-

A few days later, Sanjaya got kicked out of American Idol. Damn you, Sanjaya. I was hoping to make a decent earning with this on Ebay. Damn you.

TONIGHT!!

Azmyl totally rocked the house yesterday. That man's energy on stage just amazes me! Like whoah, is he on something?? Hehehh. Can't wait to see him on our acoustic set tonight. And also Paolo, who looks more and more like a chinese now, I feel like calling him Ah Pao. HEheheh. And Fergus, the man of many talents (he can eat a lot during lunch hour). And Ojie/Stonebay. And Justin&Derek (they're not gay, despite what the ampersand may suggest). LIKE WOOHOOO!
I lovee acoustic shows. But yesterday's electric show was DAMN FUN. Damn!
I can't say no to brinjals

Everytime I see brinjals on the menu, my eyes go @_@ and I think "I've GOT to have BRINJALS!!! BRINJAAAAAALLLSSSSSSSS!!!!!!!"

Something strange just overcomes me everytime I see brinjals. I used to hate brinjals. But nowadays:

"Cyn: What you wanna eat?

Me: Chicken rice! :D Yum yum. You go see what you want first?

Cyn: Okay.

Me: *eyes chicken rice stall with happiness coz it's been awhile since I had chicken rice*

Cyn: *walks back to table with economy rice*

Me: What you havi-- *eyes brinjals on her plate* ... GASP!!!!

Cyn: What??

Me: THEY GOT BRINJALS!!!!

Cyn: Hehehh, yeah.

Me: OKAY I'M GONNA HAVE ECONOMY RICE ALSO!

Cyn: Eh I thought you wanted chicken rice??

Me: *stands up and glides over to the economy rice stall in hypnosis while brain chants "Brinjaaaalssss! Bringaaaalssss!"*

Cyn: ... "

You wanna know how bad this gets? I went to the economy rice stall, took my rice, and scanned all the dishes, and I almost had a panic attack when I couldn't see the brinjals. A panic attack. Over brinjals.

I think we have a future in modelling.

Okay. As unoriginal as this idea is, you should try this at home. It's damn fun and time flies when you're trying to compose the perfect picture. Who said modelling was easy??? (Answer: The Boyfriend... -_-" )

Oh and also, Cyn and I were laughing so hard like mad hooligans (sorry Arvind), when we suddenly realised "Shit! It's already 1.30AM!!!! :O "

I see youuuuuuuuu....

TONIGHT!

More "Band Slut" buttons for you. Different design okay? Limited edition heheh. Oh and Furniture's gonna premiere a never-heard-before brand new track from their upcoming album!! *screammmmm*

A picture I like

This weekend, I learnt that I need to stop being so shy, especially around new people. Perhaps the best way is to either remember when we were children and we ran our little mouths like nobody's business. Or wear a mask in a dance scene and let the director yell at you "Go crazy!!! Go crazyyyy!!!"

And you do go crazy because you know your face is hidden.

(Then again, like that's gonna fool anyone lah. Heh heh.)

Thanks Lobak and Lied for the video shoots. It was swell! :D

Friday, April 20, 2007

Ohh suddenly it's Friday again!

The week passed by real quick didn't it?

Thanks Ling for taking this lovely pic. Although we were only pretending to laugh at Pris. Who wasn't doing anything funny in particular. We just wanted a laughy shot, like yay yay happy people drinking out of cheesy paper cups!

And we got it, didn't we? I will miss this. Mos def.

:-)

p/s Lupe, in Chris' words, "is brill".

pp/s I resigned. Mainly because I can't decide if it should be "p.p/s" or "pp/s" or even "p.p.s"... heheheh. LOL

A day in the life of us girls having lunch

It's Friday. We walk into an Indian vegetarian restaurant, find an empty table, seat down, and Cyn announces:
"I feel like having Kentucky Fried Chicken..."

Tuesday, April 10, 2007

So yeah, the story I promised.

The Kanye press con. There was this Singaporean journalist (I won't say which mag she's from) who kept hogging the mic. She asked one question after another,
without letting go of the mic. Other journalists were raising their hands to ask questions, but even before the emcee could say anything, this Singaporean journalist would butt in with her questions to Kanye. Plus she was holding the mic anyway. Haiyoh.

Anyway this is what happened in the middle of her 34,928
questions to Kanye:
"Miss Journalist: Before they rush you off, I would like to ask--

Kanye: Wait wait wait, hold up a sec there. Before they rush me off? You're saying that as if that's the last question for the day. I'm afraid they'll rush YOU off first!

Crowd: Hahahahaha!  *kuang kuang kuangggg*

Miss Journalist: OH I'm just afraid they'll take the mic away from me...

Kanye: Yeah and your question is...?"

Akakahahahahahakhakhah!

---
*Note: That's a paraphrased version. I'm too lazy to listen to the audio recording and type down word for word.

Thigh Master

Which girl doesn't have big thighs, I want to kill you. In the meantime, MMM was constructing this illustrative guide for some thigh exercise for me earlier, when she suddenly TER-sent it to someone else:

MMM:
bodoh!!
i sent it to jasmine!!
"MMM
damnit.
i think it's the same.
AHAHHAHHAHAHHAHA
oops!!!!

jasmine
whats tht? sex issit?
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAAH

MMM
how to exercise your thigh la!!"

And if you're curious, yes you have to first do a headstand AND cross your arms before doing the kiap-kiapping leg action. If that doesn't work, I'll just have to kill all the skinny-thighed girls in the world. So Jas you better pray this works.... hehehehehhe!

'Sup, Kanye!

Oh boy I had the greatest weekend ever! More juicy stories tomorrow.

Kanye at the press conference. Tomorrow I shall tell you how he snubbed of a Singaporean journalist. Wah piangggggg!

Kanye at Stadium Negara. Cool stunnaz eh? Yah I didn't go upfront to the standing arena. The Boyfriend and I sat at the free seating erm, seats.

Oh and Kanye said "'sup" to me! TO MEEEEEEE! Ok to another journalist too. But we were the only TWO people he said "'sup" to in the press conference room! HUWAHUWHAWUWHUAHAHA!! *foams in mouth*

I LOVE KANYE. I LOVE I LOVE I LOVE.

His new song Stronger rocks (raps?) my socks off. Totallyyyyyy off! I think he's using a Daft Punk sample? Pls correct me if I'm wrong. Anyhoots! Watch it here. Sorry was a bit far. heheh.

I can just DIE a happy person now. *beam beam beam*

"Jem is truly outrageous, truly truly truly outrageous!"

Chernliang, you don't know what have you done. Now I want to get those star earrings. And pink hair. And I have made a really big decision on my life; I will name my daughters Jerrica and Jem (and prevent Adrian from matchmaking his sons Gog and Magog with my cool-named girls). I want to use the theme song as my ringtone. And I want this tee

I miss Jem and The Holograms so much that I could cry. Sniff sniff. Watch the video to the COOLEST cartoon of all humankind's history here.

Today is the coolest day ever. Sniff.

Seaweed

Me: "Eh come try this seaweed lah."

MMM: "Ok thanks." (takes one big strip of seaweed. crunch crunch.)

Me: "Nice leh?"

MMM: "Ok lah. Where is this from? Thailand?"

Me: "Err, dunno lah. Eh, you got a small bit of seaweed under your lower lip. Hee hee hee."

MMM: (stares at me)

Me: "Heee hee hee hee... really lah... under there..."

MMM: (stares at me) "Chings, you do realise what you just said rite?"

Me: "Hee hee hee.. what lah? Really got seaweed under your lip lah--"

MMM: "Hmmm..." (quietly pinches of a small tiny piece of seaweed and sticks it on her mole in the most refined manner)

Me: "Eh maybe you should stick on the OTHER side of your chin... then you can play Can You Spot The REAL Mole?! A-ha! Hehehehehh!"

MMM:  -_-

Me: "Ok bye."

Masters of disguise

fergusong: when lesbians hook up, one assumes a role. that role is relative to the partner.
so case in point, if my girlfriend went with some chick, if that chick was more girly (and there are much more girly girls than her), then she'd be the tomboy one in the relationship. if she went out with a tomboy (and there also are much more tomboy girls than her) then she'd be the girly one.

Chingz: ohh
really ah
i didn't know that
see? we girls are masters of disguise

fergusong: ya right

Chingz: like chameleons, hiding behind a branch

fergusong: like men dunno how to fake
ok
enough with your pencil case poetry
make your point

Chingz: or a stick insect, hiding behind a stick
heheheheh

fergusong: HAHAHHAHAA

Sometimes I DO wish I was a man.

1. I would have no PMS.

2. I would have no PMS and want to kill people.

3. I would have no PMS and want to kill people in a warped manner.

4. I would have no PMS and want to kill people in a warped manner (and by warped I mean cutting off their balls and feeding it to them.... verrrrrry slowly).

5. I would have no PMS and want to kill people in a warped manner (and by warped I mean cutting off their balls and feeding it to them.... verrrrrry slowly) AND I would not post this nonsense up.

(Oh crap too late)

Suddenly it's Thursday! HOH!

Yesterday we had some retail therapy. Ok actually Cyn had MAJOR retail therapy. Heh heh. Anyway, don't feel chatty now, so here's a wallpaper I made yesterday. I've changed my laptop's desktop icons to cute cartoony ones from Pixelgirlpresents, so everything's all happy now, and I couldn't stop myself so I also made a wallpaper for my handphone. So now everything matches! I think I'll make a tshirt too. Oh and nametags. Yeah, those are cool. Mmm. Nametags.

There are tiny lines on the wallpaper, but only smart people can see it. And no I have not heard of The Emperor's Robe. Heh heh. It's widescreen 1280 x 800

James Morrison is a nice way to start a Monday; Blundt's ballcount reduces by leaps and bounds

Kinda sucks that James Morrison was marketed as a singer-songwriter who is "raw" and "honest" and "sick of performing other people's songs" by Polydor, when in fact apparently he didn't write one single track on the CD himself. Boo sama Polydor! BOOOO!

But anyway, Morrison's voice is HOT. James Blundt's ballcount is officially down from 0 to -3958. Sorry dude.

Time to pick up Jean for dinner!

And some happy news, and I suddenly miss Perhentian today. On separate and unrelated occasions this week, I have been asked:

"Ching, wanna go Perhentian with us??? We going this Thursday. Take leave only lahhhh!" (Sen Hon the NohNesMonster)

"KAM LETS GO PERHENTIANNNNN KAM KAM KAM!!! June!! OKAY??" (Hui Ling)

"You like Perhentian right? Maybe we can go." (SK)

"What about an island vacation for our family?" (bro)

"Ya lah I miss Perhentian toooo, let's go back there againnn." (Jean)

Boy oh boy... the devil is out to get me!

300

THIS.

IS.

SPARTAAAA!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You know what I like most about the movie? The way the spears plunged swiftly into the Immortals' flesh, and the friction and the momentum before it was pulled back out with force. Whoaaaaaaaaa.

Poor elephants and rhino, though. Oh and the horses too.

Type or Die!!!!

I was just thinking of Typing Of The Dead today.

Not for the weak-fingered.

It's a stupid the best geek vs zombie game. Imagine this. Your town is invaded by flesh-eating zombies, and you and your friends are the only people who can destroy these zombies and save the Earth! So what do you do?? You strap your trusty Logitech keyboard around your neck, and run out from our office (you're still dressed in your office clothes), and together, with your lightning keystrokes combined, you and your officemates will race against time to SAVE THE WORLD!

"Wow we like your style."

So you're running through the street. Suddenly in the back alley, you see a shifty figure coming towards you. It's a zombie!!! Holy guacamole! Your hands sweat and your heart races. The zombie moves closer to you and groans a horrible sound you never thought was possible (assuming you've never heard Hannah T sing). You can see the zombie's face now. The word "APPLE" appears beside the zombie's head. TYPE IT, TYPE IT!!!! Your shaky fingers spell out A-P-P-L-E on the keyboard, and BAM! the zombie falls back as if you shot it with a sniper. But the zombie regains its strength and groans again, coming at you with greater speed!!

"POLAR" appears beside the zombie's abdomen.

"P-O-L-A-R!" you mumble as your fingers reach for the keys. BAM! The zombie stumbles. But it's still alive!!

"MONEY"

M-O-N-E-Y!!!!!!! storm your fingers furiously (without the exclamation marks of course). BAM!

"CITRUS"

C-I-T-R-U-S!!!!!!!!! BAM BAM!!

The zombie's head is blown off in a bloody mess (wow you're good). That should keep him out of the way.

For now.

Jughead's brother.

And that's just Level One, my friend. Ohohoho, you're laughing, aye? We'll see who's laughing when you get to Level Three, where the zombies come in larger numbers, and you will get "KALEIDOSCOPE" or "XYLOPHONE" or "REMINISCENCE"!!!

And what about Level Five, you will get full sentences like these????

One of the Bosses.

And let's see if you're good enough for BONUS LEVEL:

Ermm... nostril oil??

Yeah, buster. Go onnnn laughing. We'll see who's laughing last.

Can You Keep A Secret?

Of course I have secrets.

Of course I do. Everyone has a few secrets. It's completely normal. I'm not talking about big, earth-shattering secrets. Not the-president-is planning-to-bomb-Japan-and-only-Will-Smith-can-save-the-world type secrets. Just normal, everyday little secrets.

Like, for example, here are a few random secrets of
mine, off the top of my head:

1. My Kate Spade bag is a fake.

2. I love sweet sherry, the least cool drink in the
universe.

3. I have no idea what NATO stands for. Or even
exactly what it is.

4. I weigh 128 pounds. Not 118, like my boyfriend, Connor, thinks. (Although, in my defense, I was planning to go on a diet when I told him that. And, to be fair, it is only one number different.)

Thanks, Sophie Kinsella. Although your heroines are mostly the same klutzy daydreaming women who want to be 'cool' but run their mouth unintentionally and have big hearts AND think that their breasts are small, you still made me laugh a couple of times. Heh heh.

Hi people, this is Navin.

Navin, don't be rude. Say hi!

Heheh. Pixelgirlpresents rocks. Although I sometimes accidently type PIXIEgirlpresents.com and thank goodness it's not some site that would get me fired at work for. Darned pixie girls.

Someday I will find wallpapers that represent all of my friends. SOMEEEEDAYYYYY. HUahuHAUAhuHAAHuauhaHAHAA!

I'm done with The Illustrated Man

And it got me really depressed. The book is a collection of short stories set in the future, around 2155AD or so. I think Ray Bradbury is quite a genius. The book was written in 1950 (my mom wasn't even born yet!), but it talked about the future having chairs that massaged you, machines that did all the cooking for you, and Virtual Reality playrooms that turned the whole room into whatever you wanted. Anyway. There is a lot of philosophy and human psychology in the stories. Put humans anywhere-- the past, the present, or the future-- and our nature doesn't change.

There's a story about astronauts being thrown into space after a meteor tears their spaceship apart. So there they are, about seven of them, all scattered in the loneliness of space. They are too far from each other to see anyone, and the only thing they can hear is each other's voice on the radio. So they just wait to die. Some go into shock. Some get their limbs torn off by passing meteors. But basically they just wait to die, because there's all there is to do, in the loneliness of space.

Then there's stories about Mars and how exiles and black people were sent there, how it never stops raining in Venus, and how humans try to live on those lands when the end of Earth happens. How does the end happen, you say? There's the atom war, there's the invasion of greater intelligence, there's our self destruction when the machines take over, and then there's just the one where the world just ends. Like that.

There's even a story about Jesus in it, if you can accept science fiction written about Him. He doesn't change, but Bradbury merely puts Jesus in a different time and space, with a little "What if?".

The future isn't a happy place to be in. I'm still rather depressed about it all.

So I'm reading Can You Keep A Secret (Sophie Kinsella) now. Yeah. Like Jean says, to neutralise The Illustrated Man. Thank God for chic lit.

---
I still think The Illustrated Man is a rather brilliant read, although it got me all depressed. The last time I got this depressed reading a book was with Smokes & Mirrors (Neil Gaiman). I didn't feel like talking for a few days, and I just wanted to lie in my bed and hold the book and think about the stories. Then Confessions Of A Shopaholic (Kinsella, again) saved me. Haha.

"The cat did it!"

She looked at the cat as it neared the bedroom door.

"Don't come in," she said. The cat calmly walked in, its velvety paws silencing its actions. It walked up to the cupboard and peered through the cupboard door which was slightly ajar.

"Is is a lizard?" she asked the cat.

The cat kept silent. It extended it's white paw and pulled the door open a little wider. Then it slid its body between the crack and disappeared behind the cupboard door.

She didn't move, expecting to hear a struggle between the cat and the lizard-- but there was no sound. She walked cautiously towards the cupboard and pulled the door wide open.

The cat was perched on one of the cupboard racks. There was no lizard.

"What are you doing there?" she asked, and said, "Come out, you silly cat."

She reached out her hand and carried the cat out. "What were you sitting on?" she asked, as she peered into the cupboard rack.

She picked it up and turned it over. It was a picture of them.

"Meowie," she sighed. "Why?"
