This will be my last post on this blog. Sob.. Ok let's not be overly dramatic, I'm only moving blogs! Heheh.<br />
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
My new blog will be at <a href="http://chingmakesthings.blogspot.com/">http://chingmakesthings.blogspot.com </a></div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
After 5 years of writing on this blog, I think it's time to move on and start on a new canvas. Reading back my old posts always gets me nostalgic. I started this blog sometime before I started dating this man who has now become my darling husband :) From random conversations to angry rants about life, this blog has been through a lot of ups and downs, and I will surely miss it. I'll still keep this blog here so I can read it to my baby when I get bored during pregnancy someday :P</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Over at my new blog, I'll be sharing lots of tutorials on sewing and crafting, and all things happy :D As I'm in the midst of designing for a sewing pattern line that my mom and I are working on, you can expect tutorials on customizing clothing, and even learn how to refashion your vintage finds! </div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
My husband and I are also preparing to renovate our home. This home has been his family's for about 20 years, and we plan to refurbish some of the furniture pieces that were handpicked by his late mom back then (she had great taste!). So I'm looking forward to share those projects with you guys on my new blog, as well as other DIY deco activities for the home!</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
So please update your bookmarks, and I hope to see you on the other side! (how morbid lol)<br />
<br /></div>
<div>
Lots of love and fuzzy blog kisses</div>
<div>
<br /></div>

<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-HtuX0fwMOfE/T3Sb-964kkI/AAAAAAAAGCg/6gs-s0BtWlI/s1600/_SAM2391w.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="426" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-HtuX0fwMOfE/T3Sb-964kkI/AAAAAAAAGCg/6gs-s0BtWlI/s640/_SAM2391w.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I did this video tutorial as a submission for ModCloth's DIY Boss Contest-- it's my first time shooting a video tutorial, and I had a lot of fun! That, and my back ached like a crazy old man by the end of the session. Well ok to be fair, mostly due to the DIY camera rig I constructed haha.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Here are some behind-the-scenes pictures</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-wyrFT0eCK90/T3ScXW8zZ6I/AAAAAAAAGCw/HlDgw-Ut_nw/s1600/_SAM2395w.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="426" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-wyrFT0eCK90/T3ScXW8zZ6I/AAAAAAAAGCw/HlDgw-Ut_nw/s640/_SAM2395w.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
All shot in natural daylight-- the best kind of lighting! I was rushing to get all the shots before the sun went down.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-8S_illOJaKE/T3SchVivGtI/AAAAAAAAGC4/lxkjofvlPPM/s1600/_SAM2396w.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="426" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-8S_illOJaKE/T3SchVivGtI/AAAAAAAAGC4/lxkjofvlPPM/s640/_SAM2396w.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I prepared a very rough storyboard so I had all the steps visually planned out, so that I would not waste time thinking on the spot (something I learnt from helping Lobak with his production of <a href="http://theweddingthingy.tumblr.com/">wedding short films</a>).</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
To keep the camera on a lock shot, I disassembled one of our Ikea shelf/trolley thingies and made a rig for the camera. Love you, Ikea!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
My nail polish stash. My favorites are actually IN2IT because the texture is not too thick, but I love the colors of the OPI Minis that my mother-in-law gave to me for Christmas-- it's the Nicki Minaj collection heheh. Thanks to Mel and Jean, I love Face Shop's line too, because of the texture and wide range of colors.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I'm not sure if I've mentioned it here before, but I have a weakness for belts. Whether they are new or thrifted or handmade, from a retail store or a night market, I. LOVE. THEM! Any belt lovers here? :P</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-zhYHfxf7od8/T3ScKhWcmDI/AAAAAAAAGCo/MZ4E14DE7u8/s1600/_SAM2393w.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em; text-align: center;"><img border="0" height="426" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-zhYHfxf7od8/T3ScKhWcmDI/AAAAAAAAGCo/MZ4E14DE7u8/s640/_SAM2393w.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
The whole video was shot on my Samsung NX10, a camera that I absolutely ADORE. I bought it during a clearance discount I chanced upon (wouldn't have been able to afford it at full price), and I don't think I've ever loved a camera this much. I chose a 30mm pancake lens for the bokeh because I absolutely love bokeh. I know, I'm loving so many things on this post LOL. Most of my recent pictures in this blog were taken by my NX10.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-yUNJoUq00wo/T3Sc43ACYxI/AAAAAAAAGDQ/QcV0XPHqErc/s1600/_SAM2402w.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="426" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-yUNJoUq00wo/T3Sc43ACYxI/AAAAAAAAGDQ/QcV0XPHqErc/s640/_SAM2402w.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
The video was edited in iMovie, and the music was composed on Garage Band (my other music projects can be found <a href="http://www.soundcloud.com/chiiiiing">here</a>). </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Editing took the longest time for me (and an extra cup of coffee), but it's also something I'm consciously trying to improve on. I think I really enjoyed this video tutorial because it's a combination of everything that I love: photography, music, fashion and art. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
FINALLY! You made it to the end of the post! Haha. Ok here's the video, let me know if you like it!</div>

p/s: Hello new readers! My blog is now at http://chingmakesthings.blogspot.com :)chiiiiinghttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02784188770661246383noreply@blogger.com8tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-34778021.post-61928594856815868292012-03-21T18:31:00.000+08:002012-03-21T18:31:25.457+08:00Refashion: You're sacked!<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-q21FRfmUt2k/T2maiWa1TuI/AAAAAAAAGBQ/odF4NRGdoGQ/s1600/Blue-stripe-dress-refashion.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-q21FRfmUt2k/T2maiWa1TuI/AAAAAAAAGBQ/odF4NRGdoGQ/s640/Blue-stripe-dress-refashion.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Finally had time to work on this refashion! </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Refashioning feels like a quick fix sometimes, but most of the time it's a learning process for me. I learned to develop an editing eye from watching Project Runway-- step back, look at the garment, and see which parts you can edit out to make it better. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Truth be told, I've been wanting to work this sack of a dress that I thrifted for RM5 (< USD2) for a longggg time. Unfortunately, every time I look at it, I get sucked into the black hole of inspiration. I didn't want to give up or use the light blue and white striped fabric for a non-garment item, so I kept this dress folded up near my desk so that I'll be bugged by it on a daily basis.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I actually drafted a pattern of a dress with capped sleeves and planned to cut up this dress and use the fabric to make a new dress. But after cutting the printed pattern and looking at the dress, I started to see the dress in a different light.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-DBGupySm6Ko/T2mifgpVjEI/AAAAAAAAGCA/bbAr71dSZy0/s1600/_SAM2286w.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-DBGupySm6Ko/T2mifgpVjEI/AAAAAAAAGCA/bbAr71dSZy0/s320/_SAM2286w.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Let's see, I quite like the pockets... but they were seriously large and I could probably smuggle big puppies in them. I did like the elastic waist too. Most of all I love the button-up back! I couldn't bear to part with that detail.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I put on the dress and pinned it here and here for a bit until I decided HOYEAHH LET'S DO DIS!!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
With Bernhoft, Passion Pit and Florence and the Machine competing for my attention from my iPod (yea rite), I worked on the dress and ended up with a dress I'm proud to have in my wardrobe!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-ppnMicf2tXk/T2ma31aU38I/AAAAAAAAGB4/bEDlqsQpcP4/s1600/_SAM2325w.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em; text-align: center;"><img border="0" height="640" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-ppnMicf2tXk/T2ma31aU38I/AAAAAAAAGB4/bEDlqsQpcP4/s640/_SAM2325w.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
With the <a href="http://intergalacticgalacticgalactic.blogspot.com/2009/02/reconstructing-bag-so-on-wednesday-i.html">box bag</a> I refashioned. Yes I know I have very veiny hands. I was born this way and if you don't like it I'm gonna ask Gaga to hunt you down with her half motorcycle body.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-YCweYUhtsiY/T2marYSVskI/AAAAAAAAGBg/zWrY_9ZZa3s/s1600/_SAM2316w.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-YCweYUhtsiY/T2marYSVskI/AAAAAAAAGBg/zWrY_9ZZa3s/s640/_SAM2316w.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Took off the sleeves, clipped up the shoulders and brought them in, nipped the pockets slightly, and of course chopped off a good couple of inches from the hem (the dress originally went down to my ankles and made me feel like going out to milk some friendly cows).</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Button-up back! I actually missed a button. Think I'll need my husband's help to wear this dress heheh.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
A rather billowing skirt of a dress that I probably shouldn't wear on windy days lol. I like the high neckline too!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
In other news, looking back at February, it was my favourite month of 2012 so far for my <a href="http://www.etsy.com/shop/LARKnow">Etsy store</a>, and here's why! </div>

A long time ago, <a href="http://eevon.blogspot.com/">Eevon</a> passed me the link to Wear Color (which resulted in almost a day of zero productivity due to the endless scrolling), and I've been following it loyally ever since. If you scroll through its pages, you'll notice that Wear Color doesn't just reblog colorful pictures-- they are beautiful photographs that are high in style quality. I've gotten the chance to know Mallory who is behind the blog, and she's not only genuinely nice, but also very encouraging from the start.</div>

Jessica Fediw is one of my favourite mommy bloggers out there. She takes great pictures, and shares fun tutorials-- and all this while having kids! She's got a passion for sewing too, so it was fun teaming up with her with for my sewing charm bracelet. Again, a very sweet person to know :)</div>

Frankie is always on my adore list. Each issue is chock-full of beautiful things that seem to be carefully curated with a unique sense of style and taste. When I found out my buyers were coming from Frankie's newsletter, I think my jaw dropped and I may have possibly done an air whoop. Possibly.</div>

<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-BGE7AzYR4n4/T2c540VfjhI/AAAAAAAAGBA/DwZQuugfmfc/s1600/photo+1.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em; text-align: center;"><img border="0" height="640" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-BGE7AzYR4n4/T2c540VfjhI/AAAAAAAAGBA/DwZQuugfmfc/s640/photo+1.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<div>
<br /></div>
My dad celebrated his 68th birthday yesterday! Happy birthday pa! <3 <div>
<br /></div>
<div>
My dad will always be young at heart, and that's what I love about him. I hope that when I get to that age I will still be able to laugh heartily and make silly jokes like he is still doing now :D</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
We brought him a small gift yesterday, and for the first time in my life I tied a ribbon differently on a present. I think I saw this technique on Weibo, and it's pretty neat, so I thought I'd share it with you too. It's super easy!</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-AQVKmWAHap4/T2c5xnEQ0tI/AAAAAAAAGA4/Xpg_i1gepuU/s1600/Ribbon.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-AQVKmWAHap4/T2c5xnEQ0tI/AAAAAAAAGA4/Xpg_i1gepuU/s1600/Ribbon.jpg" /></a></div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Told you it was easy :) Depending on the width of your ribbon, once you've tied the bow you can slide the whole bow lower (like I did with my dad's present). </div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
I'm off to finish some work now, but meanwhile, some fresh <a href="http://www.etsy.com/shop/LARKnow?section_id=11289028">colour block asymmetrical clutches</a> have been added to the shop. I'm glad colour-blocking is back this Spring, all those colors do make me happyyyyy!</div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Phew! What a packed past week it was-- unexpected, but a very happy week for me that put February 2012 on top my favourite months so far this year for me. Some lovely things happened to my <a href="http://www.etsy.com/shop/LARKnow">Etsy store</a>, and I'm very very thankful for God's blessings. I'll share those stories in another post, coz I'm so excited to share this tutorial with you first! </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-c9n3kdVpDHs/T00iY2JvM3I/AAAAAAAAGAA/rf1LQcvBrpg/s1600/_SAM1817w.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="426" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-c9n3kdVpDHs/T00iY2JvM3I/AAAAAAAAGAA/rf1LQcvBrpg/s640/_SAM1817w.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Who misses floppy disks?? Ok not me, because there's not much data you can keep in it (my husband has this story of his teenage years, and boys being boys, you can guess what they passed around in school in stacks of floppy disk. Anyone? Haha).</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
But, I love me a good old school flava (checkout how I spelled flava). In fact, for our wedding bands, my husband and I decided to have binary numbers that spelled out our initials, and we got them made by a wonderful silversmith-- Lyndsay of <a href="http://www.etsy.com/shop/idlehandsdesigns">Idle Hands Designs</a>. So floppy disks will always have a charm to us!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Anyway, HEY. Let's do this whole tutorial in <span style="font-family: 'Courier New', Courier, monospace;">Courier.</span></div>

<br />
Hello new followers! Thank you for following my blog! \ :D /<br />
<br />
I've been keeping busy with the Etsy shop. Am going to send off something to France tomorrow, how exciting it is to be writing an authentic French address on an envelope! (cheap thrills haha) I haven't been getting a lot of sales online (some of the sales are offline sales)-- if anyone has any tips for promoting and marketing an Etsy shop, do leave a comment, I'd appreciate it heaps.<br />
<br />
Listed some new faux leather jewelry today. Had so much fun making them. I really do love the burst of colours and shapes!<br />
<br />
Speaking of jewelry, I have an appointment coming up to meet with a retailer. It's my first time meeting a retailer and letting them have a look at my jewelry, and frankly I am quite nervous. I will be bringing key pieces from the faux leather collection, as well as my portfolio (photographs of other jewelry that I've done throughout the years). It did cross my mind to cancel the appointment and chicken out because of the fear of rejection, but HEY! Why am I being such a wuss? So I shook myself a bit (mentally) and slapped myself (mentally) and vowed to put my best foot forward and just DO IT. After all, if anything, it would be nice to have that experience of meeting with a retailer-- another new thing to learn in my lifetime.<br />
<br />
I recently bought a domain (I think it happened at 4am, and no I wasn't drunk lol) and am going to start my own online store in the next few months. First, I've got to continue building the inventory... The current plan is to sell a mix of ready-to-wear, digital sewing patterns, as well as handmade jewelry and possibly some items for the home too.<br />
<br />
Meanwhile, the husband and I are also planning for our home renovation. Been putting it off for way too long :-S My mom and I are going to embark on some reupholstery projects, SO EXCITED! We have a lot of great old sturdy furniture in this house that have been here for 25 years... My late mom-in-law picked them and she's got good taste. (Sidetrack: My father-in-law said when they both got married and bought this house, they only had enough money for one sofa, so the house was pretty empty for quite some time. That story still makes me smile because it's pretty romantic.) I've never really worked with furniture before, so this chance to refurbish some pieces is terribly exciting that I keep using the word excited. Heh.<br />
<br />
I will be posting up a tutorial soon, and this time it's something for the home! Come back soon ok! :D<br />

If reading doesn't help me, there's really no way around it except to JUST DO IT.<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: -webkit-auto;">
<br /></div>
<br />
<div>
Which is what drove me to work on the following sewing projects-- a pencil skirt with a back vent, and a pair of loose capris. </div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Looking at one of my favourite skirts I thrifted from a shop, I was deeply enthralled by the back vent. Okay maybe deeply enthralled is too strong a term HAHA, but yeah isn't the back vent of a skirt an amazing thing? It allows the skirt shape to taper down the thighs to create curves while still allowing you to walk like a stomping giant, ie Godzilla.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://www.examiner.com/images/blog/EXID30527/images/Godzilla-thumb-550x415-36260.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="241" src="http://www.examiner.com/images/blog/EXID30527/images/Godzilla-thumb-550x415-36260.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<i><span style="font-size: x-small;">Picture from examiner.com<br />Gojirra in search of the perfect pencil skirt for outings such as today's.</span></i></div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Hence I drafted this pencil skirt, and used a tutorial on Burdastyle to add the vent:</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-8MpJ--UPGgU/TzP3zJxEOjI/AAAAAAAAF88/BQ1O8PWWko0/s1600/_SAM1347w.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-8MpJ--UPGgU/TzP3zJxEOjI/AAAAAAAAF88/BQ1O8PWWko0/s640/_SAM1347w.jpg" width="426" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I'm also super happy this skirt turned out well because it was my husband who took my measurements :-) Before this I took my own measurements, but I think it's better to have someone else take it for you so the posture isn't compromised.</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-jSGlOoGULyo/TzP36Wi3D2I/AAAAAAAAF9E/mmf2-EVZa1w/s1600/_SAM1348w.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-jSGlOoGULyo/TzP36Wi3D2I/AAAAAAAAF9E/mmf2-EVZa1w/s640/_SAM1348w.jpg" width="426" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<i><span style="font-size: x-small;">Thanks husband for taking such accurate measurements! <3</span></i></div>
</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
And as for the loose capris, if there's one thing that I'm deeply terrified of (other than cockroaches), it's probably sewing a zipper fly. It got me to thinking that most of the time we are terrified of things that we don't understand. Whilst I am not really looking forward to understand cockroaches, I decided maybe it's time I suck it up and learn how to assemble this zipper fly thingamajig. </div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-m3hJcaNpXrk/TzP73uXJiaI/AAAAAAAAF9U/F-SW08QKCo4/s1600/_SAM1362w.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em; text-align: center;"><img border="0" height="640" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-m3hJcaNpXrk/TzP73uXJiaI/AAAAAAAAF9U/F-SW08QKCo4/s640/_SAM1362w.jpg" width="426" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-size: x-small;"><i>Deep thinker pose</i></span></div>
<div>
</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
And what better way to learn than to use a pattern from a magazine, right? Well sorta right, unless the magazine is in a language you don't understand.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: -webkit-auto;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<i><span style="font-size: x-small;">........ erm... konichiwa... ?</span></i></div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Anyway, I adore almost everything Japanese, and one of the things I love most about their craft and sewing books is that when they get down to the step-by-step er, steps, their illustrations and photographs are so detailed you almost do not need the accompanying words to understand. Almost. Hehe.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-uX1ihzOQdlE/TzP7_m37X6I/AAAAAAAAF9k/w8kJnogPAgc/s1600/_SAM1370.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><br class="Apple-interchange-newline" /><img border="0" height="426" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-uX1ihzOQdlE/TzP7_m37X6I/AAAAAAAAF9k/w8kJnogPAgc/s640/_SAM1370.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<i><span style="font-size: x-small;">Check out my scribblings. Why I even tried to re-write the Japanese words is beyond me. LOL</span></i></div>
</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
I traced the pattern in M size, and made some adjustments after sewing the legs up (love the crotch curve on the pattern btw). I sewed in the waistband, and realized it was too high for my liking, so I changed it into a thin waistband. It was very frustrating and fiddly, and obviously so because straight waistbands are usually meant for garments that sat on the natural waist, but these pants didn't! Ha, what am I doing!! Lol. Anyway after wrestling with the waistband I got it to (somewhat) behave. Austin Powers would be proud of me.</div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div>
Also finally got to learn how to use the buttonhole function on my machine! Ah the machine manual, it's a keeper isn't it (I usually throw manuals into the abyss of a cardboard box).</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-boyqQc51N_A/TzP3rF3G9ZI/AAAAAAAAF80/EwEo7jkeWtA/s1600/_SAM1292w.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-boyqQc51N_A/TzP3rF3G9ZI/AAAAAAAAF80/EwEo7jkeWtA/s640/_SAM1292w.jpg" width="426" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<i><span style="font-size: x-small;"> Think it goes well with my necklace too, soon to be added to <a href="http://www.etsy.com/shop/LARKnow">my Etsy shop</a>!</span></i></div>

<span style="font-size: x-small;"><i>Sans tuck in for a slouchy look</i></span></div>
</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Overall the capris turned out okay, and as my goal was to learn how to assemble a zipper fly and buttonholes, as Ethan Hunt would say, "Mission.... ACCOMPLISHED!" </div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
And with that... <span style="background-color: whitesmoke; color: #333333; font-family: arial, sans-serif;"><span style="font-size: x-small;">おやすみ :-)</span></span></div>

<br />
I'm so grateful to Craft Gossip for sharing my <a href="http://intergalacticgalacticgalactic.blogspot.com/2012/01/tutorial-freezer-paper-honeycomb-fabric.html">freezer paper tutorial & stencil </a>on their blog! Since then I've gotten a few visitors from Kenya, Australia, Sweden, and I'm excited to share my projects with you guys as well as be inspired by yours :D<br />
<br />
I was looking around my desk the other day and saw my thread "organizer". Well it's actually just a basket hahaha. While it may look nice when I arrange them so that they are all standing up, the truth is most of the time the look like a violently tossed salad.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-ZqhA0gHqzh8/Ty_1KirOPCI/AAAAAAAAF7E/Dd19LDdu8zI/s1600/photo-(7).jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="478" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-ZqhA0gHqzh8/Ty_1KirOPCI/AAAAAAAAF7E/Dd19LDdu8zI/s640/photo-(7).jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-size: x-small;"><i>A violently tossed salad.</i></span></div>
<br />
I've seen a few nice thread spool organizers online, and thought hey maybe I should try making one myself. And I think they look so much more organized now, left with hardly any room to mess up :P<br />

<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-ZRbedXP0v60/Ty_3-yvLCZI/AAAAAAAAF7U/UcojrsYCF3A/s1600/_SAM1139w.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="426" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-ZRbedXP0v60/Ty_3-yvLCZI/AAAAAAAAF7U/UcojrsYCF3A/s640/_SAM1139w.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<b>Get:</b></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
- A thin wooden chopping block that will roughly accommodate all your thread spools</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
(You can recycle your old one by disinfecting it first, or use other alternatives like a photo frame with the backing attached, or wooden door plates which can also be found cheap. If you have any other ideas for alternatives let me know!)</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
- Wooden dowels from the hardware store</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
- A very strong glue like Liquid Nails or 5-min Epoxy (love that stuff)</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
- Spray paint</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Let's go!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-43LzlMNarSc/Ty_6NdFygoI/AAAAAAAAF7c/_AwOs7_ftdo/s1600/_SAM1142w.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="424" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-43LzlMNarSc/Ty_6NdFygoI/AAAAAAAAF7c/_AwOs7_ftdo/s640/_SAM1142w.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Spray the chopping board, as well as the dowels. Spray thin layers to get an even finish.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Be patient and watch the paint dry. Just kidding, that's really boring, go and watch some NCIS or something heheh.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<i>Alternatively, you may also spray paint it right at the end, up to you ;-)</i></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-bghKqW5wAj0/Ty_8C3AzwzI/AAAAAAAAF7k/Db613rfSIw4/s1600/_SAM1148w.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="426" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-bghKqW5wAj0/Ty_8C3AzwzI/AAAAAAAAF7k/Db613rfSIw4/s640/_SAM1148w.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Mark dots onto the chopping board, 1 inch apart. I had 28 dowels, so I centered 7 x 4 rows of dots.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-aWzMgDaULB4/Ty_8zE-ea9I/AAAAAAAAF7s/ScoFdCsAt-M/s1600/_SAM1150w.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="426" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-aWzMgDaULB4/Ty_8zE-ea9I/AAAAAAAAF7s/ScoFdCsAt-M/s640/_SAM1150w.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Stick the dowels down onto the marks! Allow for time to dry according to package <--- another boring-but-you-have-to-do-it-grudgingly-thing.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-YN_nK-o4hx0/Ty_9o1Dh42I/AAAAAAAAF70/kc_XzSoctaA/s1600/_SAM1165w.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="426" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-YN_nK-o4hx0/Ty_9o1Dh42I/AAAAAAAAF70/kc_XzSoctaA/s640/_SAM1165w.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Once it's dry, you're done! The beauty of this is that it can sit flat on my desk, or be hung up on the wall. Remember to use very strong glue (UHU just doesn't cut it this time, and I actually still very much prefer the 5-min Epoxy), and also at the same time that there are limits to how much weight these dowels can take. Alternatively, you can hammer nails in if you've got excellent hand-eye coordination (I don't. Just sayin...).</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
What do you think?</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">

One of my dreams is to design my own fabric soon! Before I can afford to do that, painting on fabric makes me a happy creature. And what better way to keep things looking uniformed than with stencils? </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
If you liked the previous honeycomb stencil I shared, you may like these too. I've kept the price at a minimum, so all you have to do is print, cut and paint :D Oohh plus you can totally use these stencils for your own handmade items to sell :-)</div>

<br /></div>
I know what you're thinking! "Ugh not ANOTHER freezer paper stencil tutorial in the blogosphere of awesomeness again!" /commence crafty eye roll<br />
<div>
<br />
Okay first of all, you crafty punk, this ain't a freezer paper tutorial. Because I don't even have freezer paper! :( Maybe I'm blind, but I've never been able to find freezer paper here in Malaysia, and don't know anyone who has found it in the stores. I've tried the other popular alternative to freezer paper though, which is fusing black garbage bags between printing paper and the material. Which works too, but is pretty difficult for me when it comes to intricate designs. </div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
I've practically given up on ever finding freezer paper. Ever!! Malaysia, land of no freezer paper!!!!</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
But you know what Malaysia has?</div>
<div>
<br /></div>

NASI LEMAK BUNGKUS! (This picture is seriously making me hungry T_T)</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
And what does nasi lemak bungkus come in when it doesn't come wrapped in a banana leaf? </div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
KERTAS BUNGKUS! (That picture is still making me hungry)</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
And what is the chemical make up of kertas bungkus which bears similarity to freezer paper?</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
NO IDEA!</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
Sorry, I was a bad science student. Anyway, to cut the story short, kertas bungkus (bungkus for "packed") is basically brown paper with a waxy side. PLUS. Easily available in neighbourhood sundry shops, and very cheap too. If you're living in other Asian countries I'm pretty sure you'll be able to find this too, because it's a common material used to wrap food for takeaway (which reminds me of roasted duck rice and chicken rice that my dad used to buy back for me :D).</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">

<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-size: x-small;">RM3.80 / USD1.25 for 100 pcs. I feel like a thrifty genius.</span></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
Okay enough of waxing my own thrifty ass, let's get on to making some honeycomb print fabric!</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
What you need:</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<a href="http://www.mediafire.com/?su968na6w8d8634">Honeycomb stencil</a>*</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
Printer</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
Blade/x-acto</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
Kertas bungkus</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
Fabric paint (I <3 <a href="http://www.dylon.co.uk/">Dylon</a>)</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
Paintbrush</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
Fabric</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
*Stencil's in PDF, for personal use only.</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-Q6QyqObCpOU/TybhZ2w5-CI/AAAAAAAAF4g/nIfcw_f-Fj0/s1600/_SAM1041w.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="426" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-Q6QyqObCpOU/TybhZ2w5-CI/AAAAAAAAF4g/nIfcw_f-Fj0/s640/_SAM1041w.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Trim kertas bungkus to A4 size, feed it through your printer (print on the non-waxy side) and print the stencil out.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-t4j4KYG4Qb4/Tybimm2r5TI/AAAAAAAAF4w/rql8KA0pmqM/s1600/_SAM1044w.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="426" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-t4j4KYG4Qb4/Tybimm2r5TI/AAAAAAAAF4w/rql8KA0pmqM/s640/_SAM1044w.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Cut out stencil.... niceeee.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-mcvfMUbXmrQ/TybjHxAB8rI/AAAAAAAAF44/bo6k4GKvuE0/s1600/_SAM1048w.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="418" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-mcvfMUbXmrQ/TybjHxAB8rI/AAAAAAAAF44/bo6k4GKvuE0/s640/_SAM1048w.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
Iron on stencil (waxy side onto the fabric). Iron everything nook down, especially the thin borders between the honeycombs :D </div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-TALM52RXn6U/TybjqoyggYI/AAAAAAAAF5A/Go1TfSptt5o/s1600/_SAM1052w.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="426" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-TALM52RXn6U/TybjqoyggYI/AAAAAAAAF5A/Go1TfSptt5o/s640/_SAM1052w.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Start painting them combs! :-)</div>

<br />
<div>
I've had a wonderful time back in my hometown spending top notch quality time with my parents. Things are a bit different this year because my grandfather passed away last year. But it's ok. I guess things will never remain the same forever, and over time new family traditions are born, although some do still remain.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Since my last entry here, I've taken up a new chapter to my life of working from home. I've been writing and photographing tutorials for a craft site and it's been so fun thinking of new ideas and executing them. Sometimes I'll just stay awake in bed thinking of ways to execute an idea, and I'll ask my husband for ideas and get his opinions on my proposals. He's been very supportive although most of the time I'm working pretty long hours and rarely get to spend much time with him, even on weekends. Thanks for the support, Mr Husband :o)</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Anyway, I've been backing up my photos and came across these pics that were taken when I was working on items for my Etsy store, and just thought I'd share them with you here. </div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
I think my current favourite tools are the art knife (or what most people call the X-Acto, but mine is actually a Tamiya+Olfa that belongs to the husband hee hee), and glue (I have at least 7-8 types of liquid adhesives on my desk right now as we speak, and perhaps 2-3 more in the storeroom-- they are all for different materials and strength... I just get giddy looking at glues in shops sometimes). Most underrated tool that I like would be the single hole paper puncher... nothing like a perfect "o" to make my day!</div>

I had so much fun making these! Cutting the individual strips were a pain and assembling them together was time consuming. I think I shall take a break from jewelry-making and get back into sewing :-) .... although err, I'm really not sure if I can do it.. my mind's constantly thinking of accessories to make, even when I'm in bed! *_*</div>

Our house does not have any white fluorescent lights because my husband is allergic to them. Ok maybe not medically like the kids on The Others or like vampires in True Blood (let's not even talk about Twilight and their sparkly bits because they are not real vampires), but yes his inner mental system rejects all things white light and fluorescent. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
He loves incandescent orange-tinged lights, so our lighting system in the house mainly consists of standing lamps and pendant lamps. They do cast a more romantic and cozy glow over the house, and a simple thing like having a cup of tea while watching tv seems so much more cozier than doing it in white light hahaha. I believe that with some strategically placed incandescent orange-tinged lamps, you can make almost any room look beautiful.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br />Which is a big problem when you're working with colours, or detail work. When I was still working in a full time day job, I only sewed at night. But now that I have the daylight to splurge on, GOODNESS ME! There is nothing like sewing in daylight. NOTHING. It's like I've gotten a new pair of x-ray glasses that gives me power to see sheen, luster, fibers, and colours like I've never seen then before. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Sometimes I try to work through the night like I did before, but there is no substitute for daylight. I am also usually tired by then, and coupled with the lack of daylight, it's a wonderful combo for horrible success in getting good work out. So I've decided to split my work tasks by grouping them according to how much the presence of daylight (and alertness) would help them in becoming good work. A quick breakdown:</div>

I was sent to a seminar once where the speaker took one look at me and said "If you were asked to choose one over the other, you would pick comfort over style."</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
SO TRUE ZOMG.</div>
<br />chiiiiinghttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02784188770661246383noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-34778021.post-91464901726546876402011-12-21T20:55:00.003+08:002011-12-21T20:55:57.286+08:00"Does it smell like old lady?".... that's what my brother in law asked me when I told him that I bought this at RM5 from the thrift shop: a gigantic dress with a gigantic dartless bodice and a low pleated skirt. Anything gigantic from the thrift shop is a win for me; more fabric to work with! :D<br />
<br />
Anyway, check out my Vogue pose below. Super high fashion, I know. Forget the smize, I think awkward ogre arm poses are going to be the next big thing. And you know you heard it here first ;-)<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-0yJJ6M27M8c/TvHRTZTDveI/AAAAAAAAF1E/4niVNBigYao/s1600/_SAM8866b.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-0yJJ6M27M8c/TvHRTZTDveI/AAAAAAAAF1E/4niVNBigYao/s640/_SAM8866b.jpg" width="426" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I took apart the whole dress and ended up with 3 pieces to work with-- the front bodice, back bodice, and the pleated skirt. To make the new dress, I drafted a V-neck bodice (something I've been wanting to try for a while now), kept the side bust darts but eliminated the front darts for a more casual look. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-Dwa26_J5bu4/TvHR63vBILI/AAAAAAAAF1k/W9YkWWkPQeM/s1600/_SAM9033b.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-Dwa26_J5bu4/TvHR63vBILI/AAAAAAAAF1k/W9YkWWkPQeM/s640/_SAM9033b.jpg" width="426" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
The neckline and sleeves were finished with some coral satin bias tape... not a very nice job on the inside though :-( I will need to practice working with bias tape more so I can improve!!!!! YAAAARRGHHH!!! :D</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-size: x-small;"><i>*that's not the sound of frustration, it's how I psych myself up / freak myself out / wake myself up</i></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-XgbjIWpiujo/TvHSF3BSD4I/AAAAAAAAF1s/GiUrDfxrD7A/s1600/_SAM9026b.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-XgbjIWpiujo/TvHSF3BSD4I/AAAAAAAAF1s/GiUrDfxrD7A/s640/_SAM9026b.jpg" width="426" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
So anyway, back to the dress-- there's an elastic sewn to the waist to keep its shape. I love it when dresses are nipped in at the waist, just a personal preference :o)</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-buS649uFbjE/TvHRrVo9fcI/AAAAAAAAF1U/kk2VT2BIn1g/s1600/_SAM9034b.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-buS649uFbjE/TvHRrVo9fcI/AAAAAAAAF1U/kk2VT2BIn1g/s640/_SAM9034b.jpg" width="426" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I love how comfy this dress is! And it doesn't crinkle easily too. Yay!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Here's me looking at me being a fashionable ogre. God bless my husband for marrying this ogre.</div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Please raise your hands if you forgot that Christmas is a week away. Err.. nobody? It was just me? REALLY?? Heh :P</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I was on the phone with my mom and I thought she was crazy when she said Christmas was only a week away. Clearly I was the crazy one instead </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
-___-"</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I'm not much of a decoration person when it comes to Christmas, but this time around I decided just to do something simple. Bought some fairy lights, made 3 Christmas stockings with some red flannel I had in the stash, and this super simple glitter ornament to hang by our lights switch box (how glamourous, I know, stop it you guys lol).</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
You can make these in whatever shapes you want, and hey, who says it's only for Christmas aye?</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
All you need is 15 minutes, glitter, foam board, white glue, and a clear spray paint to seal it at the end. I found all these at our local stationery shop.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
1. Trace your shape onto the foam board</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
2. Cut it and pop it out</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>

<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">

<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-ExSCKtrpuCg/TttM1dWu5LI/AAAAAAAAFww/jiQ-2d5izQE/s1600/twine-cup.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em; text-align: center;"><img border="0" height="424" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-ExSCKtrpuCg/TttM1dWu5LI/AAAAAAAAFww/jiQ-2d5izQE/s640/twine-cup.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I loveeeee yoghurt! I'd usually get me a medium tub (not the single serving ones) from the grocery store to last me a few days. Before you throw the tubs away, THINK ABOUT CAPTAIN PLANET! He's got green hair and a weird tan, but above all, he needs YOU to save the planet by recycling. *wink*</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
So here's an easy peasy way to recycle that yoghurt tub into a twine cup for some pretty desk organization. Put your pens and pencils in it, or use it as a little bin to collect scraps from your craft project.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
This project is wayyyy easy. Here's what you need:</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
- Empty yoghurt tub</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
- Twine rope (or any other type of rope/yarn you fancy your pants off)</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
- Scissors</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
- PVA glue or UHU glue</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-foOl_NkKQTU/TttNhjPPGdI/AAAAAAAAFx4/6pbr36EloK4/s1600/_SAM8582.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em; text-align: center;"><img border="0" height="424" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-foOl_NkKQTU/TttNhjPPGdI/AAAAAAAAFx4/6pbr36EloK4/s640/_SAM8582.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I love strawberry yoghurt. Slurp.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Here we go! First, cut out the label like a boss.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-nkhBJLFP260/TttNZj6FmJI/AAAAAAAAFxw/joLUnEyEqNU/s1600/_SAM8584.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em; text-align: center;"><img border="0" height="424" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-nkhBJLFP260/TttNZj6FmJI/AAAAAAAAFxw/joLUnEyEqNU/s640/_SAM8584.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Spread glue on the outside like a boss.</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-mUWT4RRUTVA/TttNVZpbxQI/AAAAAAAAFxo/wiRUOdlx40M/s1600/_SAM8587.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em; text-align: center;"><img border="0" height="424" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-mUWT4RRUTVA/TttNVZpbxQI/AAAAAAAAFxo/wiRUOdlx40M/s640/_SAM8587.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Wrap the twine rope around the cup like a... uh, you get my drift.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-B6T5dyJm-bA/TttNR_4AVtI/AAAAAAAAFxg/L7XsevYVRsY/s1600/_SAM8589.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="424" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-B6T5dyJm-bA/TttNR_4AVtI/AAAAAAAAFxg/L7XsevYVRsY/s640/_SAM8589.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Done! You're such a boss.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-ATF6bYRozZw/TttNOboUGWI/AAAAAAAAFxY/qUfYXbJhIyw/s1600/_SAM8590.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em; text-align: center;"><img border="0" height="424" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-ATF6bYRozZw/TttNOboUGWI/AAAAAAAAFxY/qUfYXbJhIyw/s640/_SAM8590.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
You may stop here and use your twine cup, but if you can do a simple braid, let's finish this baby off!<br /><br />Braid three strands like so:</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-bdGGQ1Xt1TU/TttNJ43UOeI/AAAAAAAAFxQ/SfAQIQs3GQo/s1600/_SAM8596.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em; text-align: center;"><img border="0" height="424" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-bdGGQ1Xt1TU/TttNJ43UOeI/AAAAAAAAFxQ/SfAQIQs3GQo/s640/_SAM8596.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
... and stick them to the rim of your twine cup. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Best to use a superglue like UHU for this :-)</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-bfGimlfpu5s/TttNGIa3tYI/AAAAAAAAFxI/o0ENdrv5BcQ/s1600/_SAM8598.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em; text-align: center;"><img border="0" height="424" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-bfGimlfpu5s/TttNGIa3tYI/AAAAAAAAFxI/o0ENdrv5BcQ/s640/_SAM8598.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Anddddd you're done! Tar darrrrr....</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-H4X4yq-qdrk/TttNBBHwRJI/AAAAAAAAFxA/R1PmJzKFN4E/s1600/_SAM8862.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em; text-align: center;"><img border="0" height="424" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-H4X4yq-qdrk/TttNBBHwRJI/AAAAAAAAFxA/R1PmJzKFN4E/s640/_SAM8862.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
My twine cup sits with me on the table when I sew or work on DIY projects, and works as a little bin to collect stray thread, felt scraps, and little fabric remnants. Yes... pretty things make working fun for me :D</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">

My first time sewing for clients. Nerve wrecking! But I also learnt a lot of things and tried my best to finish them as nicely as possible, like top-stitching and under-stitching and steaming interfacing before applying it on.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Today was my first ever fitting session with a client. It went well, thank God! Three more to go, hope they will go well too :D</div>

These books focus on pattern drafting.<br />
<div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Pattern-drafting may not be for everyone as it takes quite a lot of time and multiple muslin trials and errors to get a good fit. But it is very fun if you like to come up with your own designs! :D Here are the books I have on pattern-drafting:</div>
</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: large;">5. <a href="http://www.amazon.co.uk/Metric-Pattern-Cutting-Womens-Wear/dp/1405175672" target="_blank">Metric Pattern Cutting for Women's Wear 5th Edition</a> by Winifred Aldrich</span><br />
<br />
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-H6f2GW34ToY/TtdraQHa5iI/AAAAAAAAFwA/BI8wGv8whsw/s1600/_SAM8548.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em; text-align: center;"><img border="0" height="424" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-H6f2GW34ToY/TtdraQHa5iI/AAAAAAAAFwA/BI8wGv8whsw/s640/_SAM8548.jpg" width="640" /></a><br />
<br /></div>
<div>
The first sewing book I ever purchased, one which I researched and pondered over for the LONGEST time too. It took me a longggg time to decide between this book and <a href="http://www.amazon.co.uk/Patternmaking-Fashion-Design-Joseph-Armstrong/dp/0136069347/ref=sr_1_4?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1322027689&sr=1-4" target="_blank">Patternmaking for Fashion Design</a> by Helen Joseph-Armstrong, but because the latter uses the imperial system (inches) and I grew up studying in the metric system (centimetres) thanks to the British colonisation, I decided to finally go with Winifred Aldrich.<br />
<br />
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-xOKjNYgaXkg/TtdrBFBJplI/AAAAAAAAFvY/DpbA58DC4IE/s1600/_SAM8549.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em; text-align: center;"><img border="0" height="424" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-xOKjNYgaXkg/TtdrBFBJplI/AAAAAAAAFvY/DpbA58DC4IE/s640/_SAM8549.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
This book taught me how to draft patterns according to my own measurements. It has a lot of variations of sleeves, darts, collars, and basic bodice patterns for woven materials (ie cotton) and non-woven materials (ie jersey). Each diagram is accompanied by instructions on how to draft them. As you can see I've marked LOADS of pages, most of them are styles and variations that I like and can see myself incorporating them into my designs.<br />
<br />
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-Jco9Jqqx46c/TtdrGGsDy4I/AAAAAAAAFvg/pS_SObb9woE/s1600/_SAM8550.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em; text-align: center;"><img border="0" height="424" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-Jco9Jqqx46c/TtdrGGsDy4I/AAAAAAAAFvg/pS_SObb9woE/s640/_SAM8550.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
<br />
<br />
<br /></div>
<div>
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: large;">6. <a href="http://www.amazon.com/Modern-Pattern-Design-Complete-Designing/dp/B0007E4W9Y/ref=sr_1_1?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1322028203&sr=1-1" target="_blank">Modern Pattern Design</a> by Harriet Pepin</span><br />
<br />
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-d88l3fEArJ8/TtdrL9hvkxI/AAAAAAAAFvo/osVSi3Ja_Is/s1600/_SAM8551.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em; text-align: center;"><img border="0" height="424" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-d88l3fEArJ8/TtdrL9hvkxI/AAAAAAAAFvo/osVSi3Ja_Is/s640/_SAM8551.jpg" width="640" /></a><br />
<br /></div>
<div>
This book was once available online at vintagesewing.info , but sadly the website is now down (I'm guessing due to lack of donations?). Rozy posted a link on our Sewing Buddies FB group to a downloadable PDF version at <a href="http://www.michou-loves-vintage.de/wordpress/?page_id=2709" target="_blank">Michou Loves Vintage</a>, which I read on our ipad. Now here is the interesting thing: I actually find this book a GREAT accompaniment to Winifred Aldrich's book above. While Adrich's book covers a lot of styles and variations, Pepin's book covers less variations but has rather in-depth in explanations about WHY those variations are needed (ie what type of dart works best for a large bust, etc).<br />
<br />
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-KfGemO2TLVY/Ttdq8z3G83I/AAAAAAAAFvQ/7AZEL6LXdX4/s1600/_SAM8552.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em; text-align: center;"><img border="0" height="424" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-KfGemO2TLVY/Ttdq8z3G83I/AAAAAAAAFvQ/7AZEL6LXdX4/s640/_SAM8552.jpg" width="640" /></a><br />
<br />
You may notice that the illustrations and styles look very old and outdated, but to me, I am still able to learn about form and fit. Plus, fashion styles are always a cycle. Who knew shoulder pads would come back in fashion again? Michael Kors / Heidi Klum made a remark on an episode of Project Runway that went something like "That looks terribly 80s, and that's not something people would like", and I laughed because I watched that episode only a year later when the 80s fashion did make a comeback :P<br />
<br />
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-x6HYXDrffXY/TtdrU3DgrvI/AAAAAAAAFv4/WSpPhG9Kwkw/s1600/_SAM8553.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em; text-align: center;"><img border="0" height="424" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-x6HYXDrffXY/TtdrU3DgrvI/AAAAAAAAFv4/WSpPhG9Kwkw/s640/_SAM8553.jpg" width="640" /></a><br />
<br />
So despite referencing "outdated" styles, both books do teach a lot about pattern making, and understanding how different positions of little things like darts can make a big difference.<br />
<br />
And that's about it, hope this didn't bore anyone to the abyss of boredom.<br />

Funny thing happened last week. A few days before attending a wedding of my husband's colleague, I suddenly find out that it's a vintage-themed wedding. Naturally like any other woman, I panicked and growled like a gorilla in heat: "I HAVE NOTHING TO WEAR!!!" Except that I was serious because I looked through my closet, and the vintagey stuff were mostly casual wear, not dinnerware (har har).</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
GREAT.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
In panic mode, I decided to make accessories to go with a dress that I made earlier this year for Chinese New Year. I absolutely adore peter pan collars, what more the beaded ones which hypnotized me on Pinterest. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Megan Nielsen has a really pretty pattern of a scalloped peter pan collar up for downloads, which you can find at her awesome blog <a href="http://blog.megannielsen.com/2011/11/diy-beaded-scallop-edge-detachable-collar-with-pattern/" target="_blank">here</a>. Unfortunately for me the pattern did not really fit me, maybe due to my stumpy small neck hehehe... so I ended up drafting my own pattern. After a few trials and errors and correction of the curves, I finally got a pattern that sat properly around my neck.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-L2blg2zMCYU/TtGrtZyIojI/AAAAAAAAFuY/E5IsMtpmDv0/s1600/_SAM8526w.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em; text-align: center;"><img border="0" height="424" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-L2blg2zMCYU/TtGrtZyIojI/AAAAAAAAFuY/E5IsMtpmDv0/s640/_SAM8526w.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
So I started beading the collar while watching Criminal Minds and NCIS and Bones on Fox. Then I watched the reruns of the same criminal investigation episodes again. Nothing like a good murder mystery and gruesome motives to motivate me to keep on and carry on beading. After a whole day of beading, I finally finished it! Yahuuuuu!</div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: -webkit-auto;">
The next day I made a quick petal fascinator some felt pieces. I've made fascinators before, but somehow they never really sat properly on my head... I looked through more pictures on Google and realised that what I need was a little base that's almost like a bra cup to sit properly on top. Rather than putting an actual bra cup on my head (I've seen that on DIY blogs, ermm, interesting, but errr not something I'd wanna do in case people ask me "Oh you made that yourself? What did you use for the base?"; "My old bra. I totally washed it before using it though."), I shaped a base out of felt and started gluing petals to it. You can't see how the based is curved like a bra cup here, but it is, and trust me.. it sits sooo much better on your head and your embellishments will look beyootiful.</div>

The wedding was at The Banker's Club, and I really like the venue because it's so apt for a vintage-themed wedding. Many of the guests supported the request of the bride and groom to dress up in vintage styles, and you gotta love fun guests like that at your wedding ;-) Saw some really fabulous vintage dresses and hairstyles that the ladies were sporting, and I was sincerely flattered when some fashionable girls said they liked my dress and asked me if it was real vintage. Naw geeee.. </div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Some of the men were sporting bow ties, which were nice, but you know, nothing beats the real bow ties that are really tied by hand (not the clip-on types). I used to think that clip-on ones were good enough, but ever since I saw a real one on Vincent (he tied it himself, like WHOA) and we had that chat about bow ties, I'm a convert. I BELIEVE IN REAL BOW TIES NOW.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
My husband wore his argyle vest. I LOVE THIS VEST, doesn't he look dashing in it! Nothing beats a good looking argyle vest, except a good looking husband in a good looking argyle vest. Hahaha. All he needs is a cigar in his hand :P</div>
